INTRODUCING - WORLD HARVEST COFFEE
World Harvest from Melitta. World renowned, just not for wine.
You won’t ever find coffee in the vintages section, but according to Melitta, who’s currently introducing a premium line of coffees called World Harvest, coffee has more in common with fine wine than you might think.
It’s no secret that the soil and climate of a specific region affects the growing conditions of grapes and the flavour and quality of a wine. But what you might not know is that much like wine, coffee is also heavily influenced by where it is grown. And like wine, which species of coffee bean, the lineage or heritage of the coffee beans, the elevation, how the beans are grown and harvested, and which process the grower uses to cure the beans all contribute to the quality, characteristic, and flavor of the coffee.
“Most people would not consider coffee to have more depth of flavour characteristics than wine, but it’s true,” says Bill Ivany, president of Melitta Canada. “Coffee beans have over 800 flavour characteristics that our senses can detect, which is actually almost double that of wine which only has about 400 discernable flavor characteristics.”
He went on to proudly say, “World Harvest represents the culmination of our search for the world’s best coffee beans. We dug deeper to identify not only the best regions, but the best valleys and then the best coffee farms within those regions that produce the best of the best gourmet coffee beans.”
Ian Buckingham, vice president of sales explains further, “Selecting which coffee beans and regions are your favorites becomes a matter of preference. But it starts by exploring and tasting the full range of different coffees that are available. As one develops and educates their palette, they’re amazed to discover just how different one coffee tastes from another.”
World Harvest from Melitta promises coffee connoisseurs and those that aspire to be, the chance to experience a whole new adventure by exploring the best coffee regions in the world. It’s a coffee drinking, whirlwind journey that includes exotic stops in such locales as Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Colombia.
